Pass plus is an optional course introduced by DSA and is widely considered the best way to give additional driving experience to a qualified learner by an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) that has been Pass Plus registered.
The main aim of this course is to introduce valuable knowledge to drivers who have recently passed the practical driving test, and who want to learn new skills and techniques; which will improve their anticipation and alertness.
Ultimately, the course was introduced to help reduce accidents caused by new drivers.
There are six modules on the course, each covering a different aspect of driving. These modules are:
- Town driving
- All-weather driving
- Driving out of town
- Night driving
- Driving on dual carriageways
- Driving on motorways
Some of the aspects may be covered in theory only, such as weather and night driving which require conditions that may be hard to replicate especially in the summer, or motorway driving if there is no motorway nearby.
So why should I do Pass Plus?
Nowadays, it’s not the cost of the car, lessons or even petrol which discourages new drivers from purchasing their new car.
Unfortunately, insurance has become such as issue with young drivers today, not only finding the best priced but also the best policy it discourages drivers from getting their first car until they are a little older.
If you complete the Pass Plus course successfully, it proves you’re less likely to have an accident. As a result, insurance companies will offer you LOWER prices, as the risk is reduced.
